[Original testimony in German]
Joyous gratitude for all the blessings I have received...
Joyous gratitude for all the blessings I have received through Christian Science prompts me to give this testimony. In 1913 I suffered so badly from articular rheumatism that at times I was unable to walk alone. For nine months I could not attend to my business. At this time God led me to Christian Science, and I asked a practitioner for help. After nine treatments I was able to undertake a journey during which I had to walk for two hours from the railway station to my destination. I was able to return the same day, in the same way, without feeling any pain in my limbs. As I felt strong and free from pain I was able to attend to my business again. Some years later I entered a new line of work in which I had to work out of doors much of the time. Since then neither damp, cold weather nor drenching rain has harmed me. I was very happy about this healing, and through steadily increasing interest in the Christ, Truth, I decided to depend only on Christian Science.
Due to the disease both my feet were misshapen and I had badly fallen arches. I also had big hard lumps on my soles, so that in walking I could tread only on the inside of my feet. I was obliged to wear boots specially made for me in order to be able to walk at all. Encouraged by the words of the practitioner that I should quietly trust in and cling to the truth, I earnestly studied the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Again and again I declared that the real man, as the image and likeness of God, always reflects divine perfection. During these years I occasionally visited another Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly showed me more about this Science. The Bible and the textbook became my constant companions. Gradually I gained more spiritual understanding, and since March, 1918, I have been completely free from this trouble, and now wear ordinary shoes again.
I have also had many other blessings through the operation of divine Love. I have come to see that "God is no respecter of persons," but that "to those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii). I am sincerely grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me physically, and even more so for the change it has made in my thinking, and for the spiritual uplifting. I consider myself fortunate to be a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church, and that I have had the privilege of class instruction. I am deeply grateful to God and to our dear Leader for giving us her works and the periodicals, for again revealing divine Truth to us through her discovery, and for showing us the way to eternal Love.—Albert Lutze, Hannover, Germany.
