In a sermon by a Bessemer minister, as reported by you, Christian Science was classed as a "false doctrine," the work of Satan.

It would have been more fitting for a Christian minister had he presented the above statement as his opinion instead of as a fact, and it is because of a desire to be just to the critic in question, to his hearers, who might have been misled by his statement, and to the paper in which the sermon was reported, that this correction is offered.

There is no denying the fact that today, as in Jesus' time, anyone possessing spiritual understanding is capable of discerning evil thoughts and other works of the devil and seeing them as false; for having that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" confers the ability to detect error in human thought, and to realize its unreality through a knowledge of omnipotent God, and so be able to heal the sick and reform the sinner.
