It is over thirteen years since I took up the study of Christian Science in earnest. At that time I was discouraged and unhappy. A minor operation had been performed and my tonsils removed. This was to be only the beginning, as it was planned that later I should submit to two other operations—one for an adhesion and one for a nasal difficulty. Just after the minor operation I met an acquaintance who noticed my condition and gave me a Christian Science pamphlet, advising me to read it and to get Science and Health, together with a Quarterly, from the Reading Room. I did so and began to study the Lesson-Sermon.
Chronic constipation of four years' standing, after effects of whooping cough, nervous breakdown, the adhesion mentioned above, the necessity for wearing glasses, as well as other ailments and faults of disposition, were all cleared away. Christian Science has helped me in bringing up our son, and in the overcoming of childhood ailments and troubles.
I am deeply grateful for the literature, The Christian Science Board of Directors, practitioners, and lecturers; for membership in The Mother Church and a Christian Science Society; for class instruction, and for the blessed privilege of working in God's vineyard. My prayer is that I may help others as I have been helped and so prove my gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.—(Mrs.) Catharine A. Smith, Needles, California.
