The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Kitchener, Ontario, Canada (First Church).

Lecturer: Gavin W. Allan; introduced by Edmund Pugsley, who said:—

The fact that you are here indicates a longing or at least a desire on your part. That desire may be to have your faith in and understanding of Christian Science increased and strengthened. Or some may be frankly curious to learn what Christian Scientists believe. To the latter I may say that we believe in one God—the God of love, of power, of intelligence, an ever present God. Christian Science reveals this God, our relationship to Him, and shows us how to make use of this knowledge. Jesus once said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." In other words, "I will supply your need." That need may be for rest; it may be for love, for health, money, or employment; or it may be for power to overcome some obstacle that opposes our progress. Science teaches us how to apply the promises of the Scriptures in meeting our problems. Hence we are sure that tonight you will receive a message which will aid and comfort you.
