My first personal contact with Christian Science healing...

My first personal contact with Christian Science healing came through the experience of a guest in my home. This lady had been a semi-invalid all her life and was continuously under a physician's care for over a year after coming into my home. Her suffering from acute indigestion, bronchitis, asthma, and heart trouble was very alarming, and after one especially severe attack she startled me by saying that she was going to try Christian Science and wished me to call a practitioner. At this time I had no knowledge of Christian Science and consequently had no faith in it. A practitioner came that evening and explained enough of it so that both the patient and I enjoyed the first undisturbed night's rest in many weeks; and her rapid improvement was remarkable.

I was so impressed by what I saw that I began to read Mrs. Eddy's writings with a great longing to know how this healing law was brought into operation. I read almost continuously and with one desire—to understand. My last conscious thought at night and first in the morning was the desire for spiritual understanding, with no thought of personal healing. Later the thought came to me that I could be freed from constipation. This trouble dated from my earliest recollections and was declared by a physician to be due to partial paralysis of the rectum. One treatment from the practitioner was all that was needed to free me from this bondage of over twenty years' duration; and from that day to the present I have relied solely on Christian Science, not only for the healing of physical ills but for the solution of many phases of the human problem.

It is quite impossible to put into words what Christian Science has done for me and mine. It has given me courage and comfort; it has helped me to overcome the sense of separation from loved ones; it has proved that my supply is not governed by mortal so-called laws—that divine Love does indeed supply adequately every human need.
