The article by "The Friendly Visitor," in your issue of February 4, made no mention of Christian Science, but it opened indirectly the question, "Why do Christian Scientists reject drugs and depend only on spiritual means for healing?"

Please let me say that Christian Science follows unreservedly the curative method employed by Christ Jesus. Jesus never divided his allegiance between Spirit and matter. He neither depended on drugs nor advocated their use. Through spiritual means alone he healed promptly and permanently all kinds of functional and organic disease. Furthermore, he said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 46), "Jesus was 'the way;' that is, he marked the way for all men." In harmony with the words and works of the Master, Christian Science relies exclusively on God, divine Mind, as the curative power.
