National Prosperity and Success

"Pray for the prosperity of our country," says Mrs. Eddy on page 14 of "Christian Science versus Pantheism;" and she adds, "Pray that the divine presence may still guide and bless our chief magistrate, those associated with his executive trust, and our national judiciary; give to our congress wisdom, and uphold our nation with the right arm of His righteousness."

At all times we should remember this wise counsel of our Leader. We need to be awake to the important demands upon us as practical working Christian Scientists, and to see that we are meeting these demands satisfactorily. We need to know that all countries are entitled to legitimate prosperity, and through our prayer and demonstration help to establish it universally. And Christian Scientists need also to know that as individuals they are entitled to and can experience prosperity.

And how are we going to do this? Not by thinking and talking failure, lack, depression; by believing testimony which implies that God and His infinite supply have deserted us and left us in want. We must be as scientifically correct in handling this situation as in handling any other. We must know the truth involved, and this truth will set us free—free from that which is untrue, that which would restrict, bind, limit, lessen, and deprive. We must know where we stand, how we stand, and what we acknowledge and obey as influence and power.
