Like many others, I was awakened to the healing truth in...
Like many others, I was awakened to the healing truth in Christian Science only when years of experimenting with other forms of treatment had failed to bring relief. After suffering for about fifteen years from periodical and sometimes continuous spells of vertigo or severe dizziness, which reputable medical specialists could not prevent, I was finally persuaded to abandon my prejudice against Christian Science and agreed to investigate the subject.
It was during an attack of vertigo lasting several days, accompanied by an attack of hemorrhoids in an aggravated form, that a definite start was made in reading the authorized literature. A casual perusal of Science and Health and of several copies of the Christian Science Sentinel modified conditions, and with curiosity rather than with faith I arranged for a few absent treatments. In less than a week the dizziness had completely stopped, and the hemorrhoids, which in the past had required operations, disappeared also. This was the first time in many months that my head was entirely free from either a mild or a severe swimming sensation. With gratitude for this relief, earnest study was taken up. The dizziness returned but twice, and then only for a few moments and in a very mild form, and the hemorrhoids gradually disappeared, not to return.
Previous to this period of vertigo attacks I suffered for many years from nervous dyspepsia which produced serious chronic disturbances to functional bodily conditions. The study of Christian Science has resulted in the disappearance of these discordant conditions, and has so thoroughly changed my human existence from that of semi-invalidism to freedom from sickness and disease that I am convinced the underlying cause of disease is mental.
