Signs of the Times
[From the Chicago Defender, Illinois]
A study of the life of Mary Baker Eddy reveals the most remarkable character that has walked the earth in our day. With ... her belief in the inspired doctrine of the Master, she rebreathed the faith that he taught, namely, that "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494).
She took as the foundation of her teachings that "God is Love," and in her lifetime elucidated it with rare and exceptional ability. She manifested in her teachings that God was not a mere cold, remote, abstract, and motionless image graven in stone or marble, but a living God exemplified in our every act of kindness toward our fellow man.
