A column writer for the Record, in whimsical mood, recently made a rather unjust and misleading reference to Christian Scientists. In justice to your readers it should be corrected. I should, therefore, appreciate space in your columns to present the following facts concerning Christian Science and Christian Scientists.

Christian Science does not teach fads or unlawful practices. In fact, Christian Scientists are preeminently law-abiding. Their church activities and their individual lives are devoted to the demonstration of the spiritual truths taught and practiced by Christ Jesus, including the healing of disease, sin, and poverty. As evidenced by their international daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, they work constructively for clean journalism, good government, and wholesome living.

On page 497 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, may be found the six brief religious Tenets of Christian Science, the last one of which reads as follows: "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure."
