I have felt for some time that I should like to express my gratitude for the many healings that I have received in Christian Science. I have been interested in this Science for about twenty years and have had many beautiful healings in that time, such as of lumbago, sprained ankle, oak poisoning, and a very severe case of blood poisoning after gangrene had set in. This I think was one of the most wonderful healings of all, as it was brought about in four absent treatments. The condition apparently resulted from a rusty nail which had entered my foot. As my son and I were invited out for the evening I did not pay much attention to it at the time. But during the evening I realized that my foot was giving me a lot of trouble, and on returning home I found that the foot and leg were quite badly swollen. I called up a Christian Science practitioner and told her of the condition and discoloration of the foot and leg.
She realized my fear and told me to take Science and Health and read, then try to get some rest, and that she would work for me. I read most of the night, but could not get to sleep. I called her at seven o'clock in the morning and told her that I could not put my foot on the floor at all. She told me just to lie down quietly and read all the time. At first I did not understand why she wanted me to read so much, but later I found out that it was to destroy the mental picture.
I called her again in two hours, as she had requested, and told her that I was much better. At four o'clock I called again, telling her that I was all right and that at three o'clock I had walked a block to the store and shopped for my dinner.
