Many years ago my mother took up the study of Christian Science, not for healing but for a religion, and she found the satisfaction and peace of mind for which she had been searching many years. The family thought she was losing her mind, but I have since found that she was truly finding it.
When my first babe was born a physical condition resulted which resisted the treatment of the physician in charge. After a week of intense suffering my mother asked my husband if he would consent to Christian Science treatment, which he did; and in one week I was healed. That was over twenty-four years ago, and I have relied wholly on Christian Science ever since. While we have had many testing times, the truth as revealed to us by Mary Baker Eddy in her writings has never failed my two daughters and myself.
We read in Psalms, "He sent his word, and healed them;" and Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." The truth of these statements was proved to me four years ago in a healing of resentment toward one who I thought was hating me without a cause. During the time that I was in this mental state a wart appeared on my thumb. As my resentment grew, this wart grew larger in size and became very troublesome and sensitive. One evening, waking up to the realization that this condition had gone far enough, I took Science and Health and read on page 201, "The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love." My thought became so filled with love that all sense of resentment vanished, and the next morning the sensitiveness was gone. In less than a week the wart had entirely disappeared.
