I am very happy to have the privilege of expressing my gratitude for the new life Christian Science has opened to me since experiencing my first healing three years ago. At that time I was healed of the serious effects of an automobile accident. I was picked up and taken to a hospital by a neighbor who did not recognize me, because most of the terrible injuries were on the head. One knee also received a severe wound, and the kneecap was cracked. Great fear was held about the sight of one eye. When the doctors and those in attendance held no hope of my recovery, my parents asked for Christian Science treatment. They knew the power of this treatment because through its ministrations my eldest brother had been healed of infantile paralysis thirty years before.

Treatment was given at half past three Sunday morning. Immediately I went from an unconscious condition into a natural sleep. At half past eight that morning the members of my family were summoned and told that the doctors held no hope for me; in fact, several times my people were told I had passed on. The following Sunday morning I walked from the stretcher to the automobile, to be driven ninety miles, to a city where specialists through expert dentistry were to set my jaws. I sat in the chair at least two and a half hours one day and an hour and a half the next day while the work was done, without having an anaesthetic; and the physicians marveled at the painlessness of the operation. When the braces were removed the teeth were found to be lying flat. With four or five Christian Science treatments they went back into place. Contrary to the specialist's prediction, the appearance is normal and the action of the jaw perfect. He had said the jawbone had grown into a solid mass at the joint and I should be unable to move it. When I gained the use of the eye, the vision was double. This was quickly healed, The knee, instead of being stiff, as predicted, is in normal condition. I am free from scars, and rejoice in a harmonious sense of being.

My mother considered it very interesting that from the first conscious moment I never permitted another hypodermic to be given me or took any medicine, although I did not know that I was under Christian Science treatment until some time later. The doctors considered it very remarkable that there was no manifestation of shock or nervous reaction. Our family physician told my father that it is a miracle that I am alive. I want to give due recognition to the humanitarian efforts of the physicians, but I know that I owe my life to God and to Christian Science. I now count it one of my greatest pleasures to attend church.
