Permit me space in your valuable columns to reply to a clergyman's criticisms of Christian Science appearing in your issue of April 21.

The assertion that Christian Science misinterprets the Scriptures discloses our critic's ignorance of Christian Science. An unbiased study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, reveals the fact that Christian Science is fully Scriptural, standing fairly and squarely as it does upon the teachings of Scripture and especially on those of our great Master, Christ Jesus.

In this textbook Mrs. Eddy has written on page 126 as follows: "I have found nothing in ancient or in modern systems on which to found my own, except the teachings and demonstrations of our great Master and the lives of prophets and apostles. The Bible has been my only authority. I have had no other guide in 'the straight and narrow way' of Truth." Many thousands of men, women, and children have found this textbook to be indeed a "key" to the Scriptures, for it has unlocked for them the treasures contained in that sacred volume, and with it they have been enabled to discern the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures which had been hidden from them or had seemed to them confused because of its material misinterpretation.
