I was reared in a home where I was taught to love and respect God, and I loved to read the stories about Jesus and those who came to him to be healed. But with all this was a fear of hell, of the devil, and of the world coming to an end; and as I grew older this fear increased so that I was afraid of every religion. Being also in poor health, I surely was in that state of consciousness in which "man's extremity is God's opportunity."
At this point Christian Science was presented to me through the healing of a friend. After a visit with a practitioner this fear that I have mentioned was seen to be mere illusion. Thus I began my journey in Christian Science. I had been held in bondage for eight years to what physicians said were effects of childbirth. This condition was not overcome immediately, but I needed only a few treatments to make me realize that I had found the right physician as well as the right religion.
After the first year of my study of this truth I was very much improved; but there was much that needed to be healed, and at times the trouble was persistent, and we needed to know that God, good, is the only Life, therefore good is the only thing that can continue. The thought that helped me most was from II Corinthians: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." For more than eight years now I have had entire freedom from all of the error previously mentioned. Words are inadequate to say how grateful I am for this healing.
