When I look back over the past fourteen years my heart...
When I look back over the past fourteen years my heart is filled with gratitude to God for His loving care and protection, and for all the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of the truth as taught in Christian Science.
Before Christian Science came into our home there had been much sickness and suffering. I had suffered from severe internal pains for several months, and a specialist told me I must undergo a major operation in two weeks' time; but while waiting I met a friend who had been healed of bronchial asthma through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I am grateful to say that through this friend I was led to look into Christian Science. I immediately bought a copy of the textbook, and after reading the chapter on Prayer I knew I had found the truth. I also saw a practitioner and asked for treatment, and after my first visit to him all pain ceased and within a week I was completely healed. Such a sense of peace came to me, I seemed to be living in another world.
About nine months later my husband received an instantaneous healing of chronic colitis after undergoing three severe operations and being in the hands of a specialist for over two years. Since that time Christian Science has been our only physician and medicine, and I have witnessed many healings and had wonderful proof of the protecting power of divine Love. I have been healed of fever, blood poisoning, neuralgia, and other ailments; but besides the physical healings Christian Science has brought a sense of peace, contentment, and happiness into my life, and a desire to know more and more about God. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and in a branch church, also for class instruction, and for the privilege of helping in a small way in the Cause of Christian Science. I am profoundly grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her devoted and unselfish life, and for her great work in discovering and giving to the world this wonderful truth, which is healing countless thousands in the world today.—(Mrs.) Lilian Elizabeth Batting, Durban, Natal, South Africa.
