My gratitude to God for Christian Science increases...
My gratitude to God for Christian Science increases daily as I realize more fully the many blessings and healings which I have received through the study of this wonderful truth. It was my privilege as a child to attend a Christian Science Sunday School, and the truth learned there has been my spiritual foundation. I have been healed of measles, jaundice, influenza, deafness, colds, and an abscessed ear. Although I am deeply grateful for these proofs of God's presence and power. I am more grateful for the mental freedom from worry, for the overcoming of extreme timidity, and for guidance and protection in daily work.
Some time ago a sense of weariness manifested itself. I was tired in the morning when I arose and was tired throughout the day. If I found it necessary to ascend a steep flight of stairs, the effort exhausted me. I realized then that I was regarding my body as my master instead of my servant. I turned to our textbook, and these words, found on page 218, revealed the truth to me: "You do not say a wheel is fatigued; and yet the body is as material as the wheel. If it were not for what the human mind says of the body, the body, like the inanimate wheel, would never be weary. The consciousness of Truth rests us more than hours of repose in unconsciousness." This truth realized freed me from weariness and fatigue.
Some time ago I had occasion to seek employment. In order to gain a clearer thought, I went to a Christian Science practitioner for assistance. He helped me to realize that God gives us our work to do, and that man, God's idea, is always active in expressing and reflecting Life, Truth, and Love. Before long I was offered a secretarial position, which is giving me a wider business knowledge, more responsibility, and the privilege of working with a Christian Scientist. This work has continued to unfold to me in a very beautiful way. Christian Science has taught me to look forward to each day as a joyous opportunity rather than to regard some days as unimportant and meaningless. This thought has increased my enjoyment of the smaller tasks.
