The Star of Bethlehem

O vision bright, thou Bethlehem star,
Appearing now to comfort those
Who blindly grope and wayward are,
Through ignorance, that worst of foes,
Be thou our guide.

Shine, radiant star of Love and Truth,
Athwart the path of men who pray;
Dispel their fears and thus, forsooth,
Calm and subdue the world's dismay;
With us abide.

Thou symbol pure of Christly power,
Celestial sign of human weal,
Thy peace on earth, in wisdom's hour,
The brotherhood of man shall seal,
Whate'er betide.
