Thank you for including in your issue of October 15 the Associated Press item from New York, which told that an internationally known American physician had stated that "the emotions, worry, fear, hate, jealousy affect every cell in the body. Some organs are stimulated; some inhibited; all are disturbed; waste products are increased, foundations of certain characteristic human diseases are laid."
This is but another instance where human thought is coming to admit facts which have been taught in Christian Science for more than sixty years. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, first published in 1875, appears this teaching of Christian Science (pp. 404, 405): "Hatred, envy, dishonesty, fear, and so forth, make a man sick, and neither material medicine nor Mind can help him permanently, even in body, unless it makes him better mentally, and so delivers him from his destroyers. ... The indulgence of evil motives and aims makes any man, who is above the lowest type of manhood, a hopeless sufferer."
Your readers can decide which remedy would be the better in the case of a sickness caused by hate, fear, jealousy, or some similar mental action or emotion, one by which the bodily ailment will be temporarily relieved while the mental cause continues active, or one which will heal the wrong condition of thought. The one sick because of some fear held or hatred indulged surely needs the mental cause of his dis-ease removed, for then he is healed indeed.
