In 1924 I first learned of Christian Science
In 1924 I first learned of Christian Science. For sixteen years I had been paralyzed on my right side, and also had what the doctors called chronic constipation and stomach displacement. Since the doctors had not helped me, I finally turned to Christian Science and was healed. Many times the struggle with the unreal sense of self seemed hard, but the healings as they came brought encouragement, and the glimpses of Truth I received through the loving help of a practitioner, and through my own prayers, gave me faith. I pressed on, and can now say, as did Job, "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee."
My gratitude to God and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her unselfed devotion in giving this wonderful truth to the world, I can best express by living the life of a loyal Christian Scientist. I am grateful that through the study of Christian Science my desires, hence my activities, are being lifted into a higher sense of good. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and for active work in a branch church. These activities have been the means of constant growth and strength to me, and I can say with the Psalmist, "Yea, I have a goodly heritage."
Frederick Viether, Los Angeles, California.
