As our periodicals are our silent missionaries, going into all the world to proclaim their glad tidings, I should like to add my song of praise to show forth the glory of God for the proof I have had that He is indeed the healer of all our diseases.
For almost four years before taking up the study of Christian Science I had been under the care of doctors and had had osteopathic, chiropractic, and electric treatments, as I was suffering from a complete nervous breakdown, including chronic indigestion of about fifteen years' standing, severe headaches, a nervous heart, and poor blood circulation. Then two of my loved ones passed on within two years, making me feel that my burden was more than I could bear; and the constant fear of insanity possessed me.
Through the efforts of a dear friend Christian Science was presented to me, and as a last resort I decided to try it, although I had absolutely no faith in it, for I had been rather prejudiced against what I thought Christian Science to be. Almost from the start, under the loving guidance of a most faithful practitioner, I began to improve. The healing of the chronic indigestion was instantaneous when I was made to see that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." The rest of my healings were slow, but had they also been immediate I should perhaps not have stuck to Christian Science. Within less than a year I was well and happy once again, having learned that "to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Since then I have had a wonderful healing of inflammatory rheumatism, and of a badly sprained ankle, and have also had the privilege of witnessing healings of broken bones, pneumonia, a severe case of quinsy sore throat, and protection from accidents.
