The Grace of God

[Original article in German]

Can there be any more beautiful possession than the grace of God, any more beautiful gift than that of dwelling safely under the strong wings of God's love? Grace and love go hand in hand; and as long as there is Love—and Love shall ever be—so long will God pour out grace upon His children.

"Shall we plead for more at the open fount, which is pouring forth more than we accept?" writes Mrs. Eddy on page 2 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This open fount is the fount of God's boundless grace, new every morning, and, like the radiant sun, sending forth its rays upon the just and the unjust. Eventually, every knee shall bow unto the Lord. But God's grace is seen shining even now upon the just who seek His face, His good pleasure, in the way He has commanded!

God's grace rested on the children of Israel. Two rulers, David and Solomon, received abundantly of God's grace. From His chosen people certain men arose, instruments of His will, namely, the prophets, whose duty it was to bring back to grace those who erred. Finally, with Christ Jesus there appeared the acme of divine grace. In Christ Jesus is revealed the abundance, the inexhaustible nature, of God's grace. He healed what are considered the most difficult sicknesses, and raised the so-called dead. He fed thousands of hungry people when only a few loaves and fishes were available, forgave sins, bestowed upon all who would listen to him the spiritual, heavenly bread of his precious spiritual teachings. Christ Jesus reflected divine grace and strength abundantly, so that the sick woman who, humbly believing, stretched forth her hands for grace, was healed when she touched the hem of his garment.
