In Christian Science all that is acknowledged as possessing...

In Christian Science all that is acknowledged as possessing reality is God and His creation, which the Scriptures pronounce "very good." God's creation, then, being "good," it cannot possibly include evil, disease, or death. All of these are admittedly the direct opposite of good; hence they could not have been created by Him, Neither could they exist by virtue of their own or any other power apart from God, whose omnipotence precludes the possible existence of another power. This fact is further substantiated by the gospel reference to creation in which John declares that "all things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Now it is self-evident that anything which was never made does not now and never did exist; and the nonexistent certainly cannot consistently be designated "real." Mrs. Eddy readily agrees and frequently states that evil in all its varied forms seems real to the material senses, but holds that the evidence presented by these senses is false and that the testimony of spiritual sense alone is true.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 472): "All reality is in God and His creation, harmonious and eternal. That which He creates is good, and He makes all that is made. Therefore the only reality of sin, sickness, or death is the awful fact that unrealities seem real to human, erring belief, until God strips off their disguise."
