I cannot find words to express my gratitude to Christian Science...
I cannot find words to express my gratitude to Christian Science for all the blessings I have received. For two years I suffered with a very severe form of grippe, and had lost the sense of smell, taste, and hearing. Finally a tumor appeared on my eyes, and I began to lose my sight. The doctors I consulted brought me no relief. A very skillful oculist told me that an operation was necessary, and I consented. After the operation the trouble seemed to disappear, and I thought I was healed; but after a little while the tumor reappeared, the disease became more virulent than before, and I was quite discouraged.
At this time my daughter became interested in Christian Science. She procured the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and we began to read it. At first I thought its teaching very difficult to understand, but the more I read the simpler it appeared to me, especially when I began to attend the church services. Finally I decided to go to a practitioner and ask for treatment. After two treatments the sense of taste and of smell returned, and the deafness disappeared; I heard perfectly well. Only the eye trouble remained. At this juncture I had to leave Paris for Cannes. Here I continued to visit the church and to study the textbook, but I still suffered on account of my eyes. Finally I again went to a practitioner and asked for help. The practitioner, who was most kind, helped me much. In a very short time I was completely healed. Since then my whole life has become different. My heart overflows with gratitude to omnipotent God, to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for Christian Science, and to the dear practitioner.—(Mrs.) Elisabeth Geyer, Roquebrune (A. M.), France.
I, also, am very grateful to Christian Science for all that it has done for me. Before I knew of it I was constantly ill, and the doctors said that an operation would be necessary. I was unable to work, and we were in want. At this time a friend spoke to me of Christian Science, and I went to a practitioner to ask for help. At first what I heard seemed very difficult and I understood nothing. But little by little I began to understand that matter has no power over man; fear began to disappear, and I experienced considerable relief from my ills. This made it possible for me to come to Cannes. My knowledge of Christian Science was very slight; nevertheless, I attended the church services and read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. But the diseases did not leave me, and I could not work. Finally, in desperation, I went to see a practitioner, and with the first treatment I felt an improvement in my health. As soon as it was possible for me to work, offers came from all sides in quite unexpected fashion. Since then my life has improved from day to day. The treatments that were given me with such love and kindness constantly increased my understanding, and I am better now than I ever was before.
