I am glad of the opportunity to express my thankfulness...
I am glad of the opportunity to express my thankfulness to God for Christian Science, and shall ever be grateful to the dear friend who directed me to it. When I first became interested in Christian Science, it was not for physical healing, although I was much in need of it, as I was under the doctor's care most of the time but was receiving no help. I always thought that my ills were God-sent, and that I must make the best of it. At this time I was going through deep waters and was very unhappy, and Christian Science was a great help to me. To know that God is Love, an ever present help, and to know the real meaning of the words, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," means everything to me. I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner and was healed of chronic bowel trouble in about a week. A short time after this I was healed of a spot on my body which I had had for several years. A scab would form, and when it dropped another would form. I have also been healed of lumbago, colds, injury to the spine, and another to my arm caused by a fall. Many other difficulties have vanished, and I have been healed to a great extent of self-pity and sensitiveness. I am indeed grateful for these healings.
On page 242 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says, "In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error,—self-will, self-justification, and self-love,—which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death." I am grateful for the understanding of God as I gain it through the study of Christian Science, and pray that God will help me to learn more of Truth.
I am grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, to the practitioners who have helped me, as well as for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for all the activities that this membership brings with it.
