I was headed for physical and moral doom when Christian Science rescued me. In my youth I learned to drink, and the habit grew until I became a periodic drunkard. As I grew older, the periods became more frequent, until I was oftener drunk than sober.
Then Christian Science came. It was a long struggle, but Truth triumphed, and I was healed. The healing came while I was on a prolonged debauch, but was complete and permanent. It was in answer to my prayers and those of a faithful practitioner, who refused to become discouraged. During the struggle I would attend Christian Science testimony meetings in the hope of hearing someone tell of overcoming a problem like mine. I heard testimonies of those who had overcome the "liquor habit," but none told of being healed of downright drunkenness. On many occasions I was quite intoxicated when I went to these testimony meetings, but I always left sober.
I read The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel in the hope that I might find testimonies of those who had overcome this habit. My purpose in writing this is to let those afflicted with drunkenness know that there is a sure and permanent cure for this error, and that cure is the truth taught by Christian Science.
