"Here and now"*

These words, grown dear, oft read with thanks profound,
Gleam bright with hope for weary men, earth-bound.
Know, troubled ones, from happiness afar,
That neither time nor place from good can bar:
See here and now your native country fair,
The land of promise, present everywhere.

And you that seek for health in balmy air
Of friendly clime—your quest leads never there:
Nor height nor depth from freedom separates;
In Spirit's atmosphere your healing waits:
Full harmony, each sufferer's answered prayer,
Is here, for understanding hearts to share.

Heirs now of Life! what better can ensue?
No morrow's dawning makes the truth more true;
For faith's reward to-day is not too soon;
Youth, age, rob none of any real boon;
No loss can be, no lack: fullness divine
Constant belongs to man in God's design.

Speed on, O verbal harbingers of cheer
Proclaiming Love's dominion now and here:
Showing our gladsome task, by Mind decreed,
To waken from sin's darkness and be freed;
Thus holy joys each hour with heaven endow
Man's birthright and possession here and now.
