When I was a very young girl I heard of Christian Science,...

When I was a very young girl I heard of Christian Science, but I was satisfied with the church to which I then belonged. After about ten years I became interested in this Science, not because I needed a physical healing but because the friends who were Christian Scientists were so happy and free. I knew they had something I did not have, so through mere curiosity I began reading the textbook, "Science and Health with key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. However, I remember very distinctly how I reasoned with myself about God before I procured the textbook. After reading Science and Health I knew I had found God. Then I began reading the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. At first I could get nothing out of them; but there was an effect, and it was always that I felt very happy and harmonious, I could not remember even a line. with prayer and an earnest desire, the truth began to unfold.

My gratitude is beyond words for what Christian Science has brought into my life. From being a very discontented mortal everything has been reversed. Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I have proved this truth many times, both in the healing of sin and in the healing of sickness.

The regenerated consciousness stands out more than any physical healing; and although I did not notice any special physical healing for several months after beginning the study of Christian Science, I have since been instantaneously healed of a sprained ankle, of pneumonia, ptomaine poisoning, severe backache which had lasted for three years, and many minor ailments. Also, through the earnest application of the truth, I have been healed of great sorrow by the passing on of my whole family within a period of thirty days.
