Many years ago Christian Science was offered to our home by a neighbor, and was rejected; but when my mother was given up by the doctors, we turned to it for help. I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but always with the thought of getting something for my mother. I attended the Wednesday evening testimony meetings with the same thought; but after a few weeks I found that what was helping her was also helping me, and I became an earnest student of Christian Science. It was a hard, uphill climb, because of antagonism in the home; but I clung to the truths in the textbook and had many healings. I had been troubled all my life with my throat, was afraid of dampness and drafts, and had many attacks of tonsillitis every winter, but this has all been completely overcome. I was healed of chronic headaches and a lump in my breast without any help other than my own understanding of Truth. I have also been healed of burns on my face from hot grease and of burns on my arms from an explosion in a gas oven.

My greatest joy, however, is that I have been helped in overcoming hate, fear, selfishness, and jealousy. I wish to express gratitude for the Christian Science nurse who was in our home for a month with my mother; she guided me over so many rough places and kept my feet on the rock. I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of teaching in the Sunday school. I am also grateful for class instruction.
