Encouragement

Not a few in these days of business and social revolution are crying out for the solution of problems relating to the maintenance of their business and domestic affairs. The pressing demands due to changed commercial and living conditions impinge heavily on the heads and hearts of millions. And the queries are oft projected: How can we meet the demands? How can we find the courage whereby to go forward? Men and women are looking in various directions for encouragement; and many of them to-day are being enabled through divine grace to voice words of hope—even as Eliphaz declared to Job when the latter's courage had all but completely ebbed, "When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up."

Indeed, even amidst the most depressing circumstances there can be "lifting up." Christian Science shows the way whereby men and women may find both encouragement and goodly help, so that, through divine wisdom, they can meet the demands of justice in the fulfillment of right obligations. The Science of Christianity teaches that this ability can be found by all seekers after Truth in the truth which the Master expounded and demonstrated for the good of all mankind. Speaking of the Christ to the discouraged in heart, Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Thousands, indeed, who have sincerely sought for Truth and have discerned it through Christian Science, have found the rest which comes through practical demonstration of the divine Principle of this Science.

Christian Science unfolds the fact that Christ, the spiritual idea of God, is the Saviour from all error and the inspiration of all true courage. With faith in God and the utilization of His idea, one is enabled to apply judgment and discretion in clear thinking. Thus, the business man or worker can look daily to the unerring Christ and apply intelligence and good will in improved service to others. He is constantly encouraged by his understanding of the living truth, which he more and more trusts and loves as divine wisdom and goodness unfold. He can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."
