In recounting the many blessings I have received through the unfoldment of the Christ, Truth, as taught in Christian Science, I am reminded of my first healing, which occurred several years ago. Following an attack of influenza, many so-called after effects were experienced. After an exhaustive investigation by specialists, the only hope offered was for me to lead a very inactive life out of doors, with as much time in the sunlight as possible, as my lungs were affected. Since I had led a very active business life, this procedure seemed impossible. In my extremity I prayed diligently to God, who I believed did not send trials to His children, that I might be shown a way out of this maze.

A few weeks later some very dear relatives who were Christian Scientists visited my home, and explained to me that I could be healed through Christian Science, so giving me my first real glimpse of this demonstrable truth. Recognizing this as an answer to my prayer, I immediately dismissed my physician, destroyed all drugs, and turned whole-heartedly to the study of this Science which is doing so much for humanity. The help of a practitioner was requested, and I shall never cease to be grateful for the loving and untiring manner in which this service was given. Although the healing came slowly I am grateful for that fact, as it necessitated a very careful weeding process to rid my consciousness of all the error which needed to be replaced with good thoughts and obedience to God's laws, not laws of mortals. I am grateful to have proved that "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies," and that, as Mrs. Eddy further says on page 162 of "Sci-ence and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "the effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind;" for with the realization of this truth I was healed.

While I am grateful for many other physical healings also, my gratitude is profound for the spiritual interpretation of the Bible which this Science reveals. Words seem quite empty to convey gratitude to God, and also to Mrs. Eddy, whose selflessness brought to light the power which is unburdening humanity. It is only through service that one can attest appreciation of this "pearl of great price."
