Sanford Tribune and Advocate
The article on "The Power of Suggestion" in a recent issue of your paper might lead some of your readers to believe that there is no difference between Christian Science practice and that of the various systems of mental suggestion.
Christ Jesus instructed his immediate followers to heal the sick through spiritual means alone. He did not use "suggestion" or will-power. He said, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do." In other words, he indicated that he acted in obedience to the divine Mind.
Christian Scientists accept the teachings of the Master and make practical application of them to their daily problems. They understand that only through the one divine Mind, or God, can scientific healing power be realized, and that mortal mind, so called, is not a healer, but is the seeming cause of disease. Christian Scientists endeavor to comprehend and realize the divine law and power, and thus heal disease and sin.
