Christian Science has been my only physician for the past ten years. I turned to it only after all material remedies had failed. I had submitted to a major operation without experiencing any relief, only more suffering; and I had tried osteopathic treatments, serum treatments, nature cures, and many other remedies. I had been sent to the country to live in the open, for the doctor said he could do no more for me, as I was in the last stages of pernicious anaemia and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. However, the country air failed to bring me health, and I returned home in utter despair and discouragement. It was at this time I decided to give Christian Science a trial. I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, and shall never forget the peace that came over me; I recognized that students of Christian Science had something which I very much needed. I went from the meeting to the Christian Science Reading Room and borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading this book for six weeks, I knew I had found the "pearl of great price," so I returned the book and bought one.

Through the study of Science and Health I was healed of fear and extreme nervousness, also of pernicious anaemia. Later, with the help of a practitioner, I was healed of chronic constipation, goiter, and various other discordant conditions. We have had many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science in our home. I have seen influenza, pneumonia, mumps, diseased tonsils, smallpox, infections, and abscess of the ear healed for different members of my family, all in a very short time, sometimes with the help of a practitioner and sometimes through my own work and reading of the textbook.

The statement in Science and Health (p. 473): "The God-principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power," has helped me many times to overcome sin and disease in myself as well as in others. It has given me great peace and joy to know God as ever present, and not afar off, as I had been previously taught.
