I wish to tell of an experience which I had in 1927
I wish to tell of an experience which I had in 1927. I was motoring at a time when it was very dark, and raining hard. The car collided with a truck, loaded with heavy iron pipes, which was standing on the main highway. The accident happened so quickly that I was not aware of danger. As soon as I regained consciousness, which was in about thirty minutes, I commenced to declare the truth audibly, and asked the chauffeur to telephone to my home for the help of a practitioner.
During the time that my family were awaiting my arrival at home, the practitioner directed my son, who was fourteen years of age and attended the Christian Science Sunday School, to references in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. The last reference which he read contained this statement: "Joy cometh with the light" (Christian Healing, p. 10). He closed the book and said, "I am satisfied." He felt sure that God was caring for me, and that I was safe. This occurred thirty minutes before I reached home.
The injuries which were evident to the material senses were crushed bones in the knee, torn ligaments in the thigh, a sprained ankle, and a badly bruised condition of one side of my body. I was completely healed in twenty-four days. We proved that Christian Science heals without the aid of a physician or an X-ray, as I had neither during this experience.
