It is possible that a number of your readers may infer from the rector's kindly meant remarks concerning Christian Science in his sermon, as reported in your last week's issue, that there is some degree of compulsion in the Christian Science denomination.

Will you allow me to point out briefly that in all matters pertaining to the joining of the Church of Christ, Scientist, there is no compulsion of any description involved or employed. The only compulsion Christian Scientists acknowledge is that referred to by their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where, on page 390, she writes "Truth will at length compel us all to exchange the pleasures and pains of sense for the joys of Soul."
