When I became interested in Christian Science I did not think I was in need of physical healing, but very soon after I began reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of sick headaches, which I had been having two or three days each week for some time. In the years that have followed I have been helped in every way through the study and application of this truth. Sometimes I have been able to correct the error through my own right thinking, and often I have had the help of kind practitioners.

In rearing my two children I have had many opportunities to apply this truth, and it never fails. I am grateful to know that I am slowly overcoming a great sense of mother fear. The children have had healings of earache, colds, whooping cough, measles, and many other difficulties.

I have been healed physically many times. Often the healings have been quick; at other times slow. One slow healing in particular stands out in my thought, for through this experience I learned to rely radically on the truth. A discordant condition was manifested on my body. For two weeks the pain was excruciating at times, and I had to call the practitioner for help several times during the day. At the end of the fourth week all pain left, but the bodily appearance of discord seemed the same. I discontinued having help from the practitioner, confident that since the pain had been overcome the outward appearance of discord would also disappear. Several months passed, however, and the condition seemed the same. Gradually I realized that I was holding a great fear that this was an inherited disease as I had seen a relative suffer in the same way when I was a child. I told the practitioner of my fear, and again asked her to help me. In just one treatment this tormenting fear was allayed and I felt very much encouraged.
