"In reality"

On page 103 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says, "In reality there is no mortal mind." Has it occurred to the student of Christian Science how often in everyday life one uses the words "in reality," but how seldom one visions their real meaning? God and His spiritual universe are "reality," but oftentimes in using this phrase men voice the truth without knowing it, for the spiritual universe and man in the image and likeness of God as real. "In reality" there is no sin, sickness, death, lack, or other inharmonious condition; and if, when using this phrase, we mentally substituted the words "in the kingdom of God," the word "reality" would take on a new meaning, and we should find our thoughts lifted above mortal sense to spiritual consciousness, where God governs and "reality" means life eternal.

Mrs. Eddy speaks of "divine reality" (ibid., p. 95); and only by dwelling in this state of consciousness can we displace in our thoughts, and therefore in our lives, the generally accepted mortal belief attached to the word "reality." Seeking to gain divine consciousness of reality into which no error can enter, we effectively obey our Leader's admonition to "stand porter at the door of thought" (ibid., p. 392). In a consciousness filled only with the spiritual concept of reality there is no room for any material belief to enter, and the result will be health, peace, and success, for in the kingdom of God is the only reality. Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you," within spiritual thinking.
