In 1917, a conversation with a lady led me to investigate and accept Christian Science. Through my efforts to live according to the truth as I then came to understand it, I was healed of profanity, smoking, and drinking, which were habits of many years' standing.
In the intervening years I have witnessed in my family other healings, such as the overcoming of measles, whooping cough, and colds. Help has been received from loving practitioners, to whom I am very grateful, when we were resident in distant countries, so proving to us that distance is no obstacle to the immediate manifestation of the power of God.
I am thankful for the Christian Science literature, to which a great deal of my reading is confined, The Christian Science Monitor keeping me fully informed about every worth-while activity throughout the world. The Lesson-Sermons, Manual, and Hymnal enable us to have our church services wherever we may be—a provision of our Leader for which every Christian Scientist living away from Christian Science churches must be profoundly grateful.
