Signs of the Times

[From Great Thoughts, London, England]

An American tourist relates how he went up a valley in the Swiss Alps that is hemmed in on both sides by high mountains, until he was stopped by a steep mountain standing squarely in the valley, called by the people of that place "the end of the world." He believed that it was "the end of the world" until one day he went a little way down the valley and discovered a zigzag path running over the shoulder of the mountain that stood in the way. He kept on and up until he was over and beyond "the end of the world."

Sometimes we come to the place that looks like "the end of the world," but if we take the way up, we can proceed unhindered. Have you found the high way—the way of love, of faith, and of hope?
