Continued antagonism towards and ridicule of what I believed Christian Science to be, proved unable to resist this healing truth. I had been most abusive for a number of years and would not permit Christian Science literature to enter our home. But, like Saul of Tarsus, I was suddenly awakened and had my blind eyes opened. About twenty years ago I was suffering intensely from inflammatory rheumatism. Receiving no help from material remedies, in desperation and surrender I requested help in Christian Science. Within half an hour, through means of an absent treatment, I was completely healed of the ridicule and antagonism, as well as of the physical ailment.

I can liken my experience to that of Paul only up to this point. I took everything for granted and failed to give thanks where thanks were due. I induced others to take up this study, and no doubt thought this canceled my obligations to God. Physical healings had come easily; but unlike the apostle I just drifted, until the time arrived when I was forced to study and apply my understanding in order to overcome financial difficulties.

I was instantly healed of the tobacco and liquor habits while aiding another. Some faults of character have disappeared. Influenza in an aggravated form yielded after four hours of diligent reading and study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A fractured arm was harmoniously set within half an hour through help from a practitioner.
