An item in your issue of December 1 headed "Ethical Speaker Hits Christian Science" shows, with other information at hand, that the speaker's address at the Academy of Music was based largely on misinformation obtained from sources unfriendly and unreliable.

It is an indisputable fact that Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, was engaged in reading the Bible when sudden relief came from the effects of a serious injury. The renewed interest created in the Scriptures by this important circumstance was followed by an intensive study which revealed to her the law of spiritual Truth, on which her teaching and practice are based.

An unbiased reading of Mrs. Eddy's works should convince any fair-minded reader that the Bible was the source of her discovery of Christian Science. In her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she herself declares in unmistakable language (p. 126), "The Bible has been my only authority. I have had no other guide in 'the straight and narrow way' of Truth." Christian Scientists are profoundly grateful for the abundant evidence of this fact, and that the Scriptures themselves are the best evidence in support of it.
