Please let me state that deception and self-hypnotism have no place in the practice of Christian Science, as implied by an article in your issue of September 27. The fact is that only through integrity and truthfulness can success be obtained in Christian Science, for this religion follows the teachings of Christ Jesus implicitly.

Christ Jesus healed "all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." His spiritually mental healing method was clearly indicated by his statement to a group of followers: "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Through the faithful study of the Bible, Mary Baker Eddy was enabled to discover Christ Jesus' healing method; and by adhering strictly to Jesus' teachings, she gained such a thorough knowledge of the truth about God and man that she could utilize this truth to free men and women from disease, as well as sin, without drugs. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy presents to humanity the rules and laws underlying the Master's healing method.
