In September, 1918, I came into Christian Science for...

In September, 1918, I came into Christian Science for the healing of paralysis. For eighteen months I had been under the care of several doctors, one a specialist; finally the last one, a friend, told me there was nothing that could be done for me, and that I must not be left alone as I was liable to pass on at any time. In the meantime I had been earnestly praying to be shown a way whereby I might be healed and restored to my family. One day a friend came in with a paper in her hand. Giving it to me she remarked, "Your doctors do not seem able to help you; try my doctor." Opening it I saw it was a Christian Science Sentinel. The testimonies greatly interested me. It was a year later, after the last doctor's verdict, that the thought came to me that what had been done for others could be done for me. I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner, and work was taken up. It was several years before the healing of the trouble took place, but during this time many other wonderful proofs of the healing power of divine Truth and Love were experienced.

One healing for which I am very grateful was that of a broken bone. A block in the sidewalk which had become loose tripped me and caused me to fall, breaking a bone in my instep. Help in Science was asked for that night, as the pain was so great I did not seem able to work for myself. Although it was two weeks before I could get around, there was freedom from pain, and in five weeks I was able to go anywhere.

I am deeply grateful to God for His loving guidance and protection; to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for Christian Science and its teachings, and for membership in The Mother Church.—(Mrs.) Jennie A. Padgett, Green Cove Springs, Florida.
