Christian Science does heal; of this I have had ample proof. One year, about a week before our first lecture was delivered, I became aware of the fact that a painful growth was forming on my right breast. As I had never had a blemish on my body in my life, I was filled with resentment and an overwhelming sense of disgust. I was unable at the time to devote myself to the study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, so considered it advisable to ask for help from a practitioner, which was, as usual, most lovingly given. This was four days prior to the lecture, and she advised me to remember that every statement of truth would contain healing for someone; and so it proved.

I listened very intently at that lecture, but all I could remember was the emphasis placed by the lecturer on the words, " 'Now are we the sons of God,' and therefore perfect." I was healed immediately of both resentment and disgust, and I also knew that my problem would be met speedily. The next morning, after two more treatments, the growth came away entirely. The cavity which was left was rather alarming at first; but I clung to the glimpse of Truth that had come to me, constantly knowing that no matter what the physical senses might say, I was in reality God's perfect child; and in seven days it healed beautifully. I should also like to mention that after the first three days all pain left me. During the whole experience I was entirely free from fear; even when the thought was expressed that as my mother had passed on with cancer, I was to regard this as a warning of what might come to me. I knew quite well that God is the Giver of every good and perfect gift; so what had I to fear?

Christian Science is teaching me many lessons, all much needed, and I am filled with gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for sharing with the world her wonderful discovery, Christian Science. It is enabling me to understand the Bible and the words and works of Christ Jesus, as told in the four Gospels, books which at one time roused bitter and rebellious thoughts in me. All this has quite disappeared; and whereas before I merely believed, now I am beginning to understand and consequently prove the truth of Christian Science—God's most gracious gift to His children.—(Mrs.) Hettie R.
