Many blessings have been my portion in the years that I have been studying Christian Science. Colds, fevers, and injuries from accidents have been met and overcome, and a violent temper, impatience, and kindred ills are gradually but surely being replaced by the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus."

One night an electric fan was left running when I retired, and during the night I roused sufficiently to realize that it should be stopped. In reaching out in the dark to turn the switch, my forefinger came into contact with the whirring blade in such a manner that not only was the fan stopped, but one arm of the blade was turned at right angles to its normal position, while the flesh at the end of one of my fingers was laid open for a distance of almost an inch. That day I had been studying in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy the paragraph that begins, "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea" (p. 495). Immediately thought was turned resolutely away from the discordant condition to the contemplation of this statement. A handkerchief was wrapped around the finger, and a member of the family read aloud from Science and Health until I was resting quietly.

The next day the finger was kept in a bandage, but without any medication; the second day it was left unwrapped, and the third day it was in use again. This clear demonstration of what may be accomplished by the definite refusal to heed the arguments of error was the occasion for earnest gratitude.
