Christian Science was presented to me during a time of...
Christian Science was presented to me during a time of great stress, when I certainly needed the direction which it gives us to enable me to deal with various inharmonious conditions relating to my work. Christian Science was introduced to me by a friend, not a Scientist, on behalf of another friend, who had been ailing for some months, and for whom the doctors appeared unable to do anything. This friend became very ill while staying at the seaside, and as the symptoms appeared serious, a doctor was asked to diagnose the condition. He did so, stating that it was critical and that nothing could be done. A Christian Science practitioner was then telephoned to and absent treatment was lovingly given. The most serious symptoms were overcome in the first treatment. I was deeply grateful for the support I received during the nights of watching, when evil seemed almost overpowering, from the words, "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." A few days later the practitioner came, bringing such a wonderful sense of Life that knows no death, and of Love which never faileth that the things of matter became intangible and valueless, while the things of Spirit appeared the only tangible and real. In a very short time the healing was consummated.
I am exceedingly grateful for many physical healings: influenza, quinsy, and a poisoned condition of the foot were quickly overcome by the application of the truth as taught in Christian Science. I cannot tell in words the happiness that has come to me through its teachings, and the gratitude that I feel, especially as a worker with children and girls, for the way that Christian Science is helping them and the whole world to gain higher ideals and a larger understanding of the uplifted Christ.
