The Christian Scientists in Leningrad, Russia, although not now maintaining a religious organization as a branch of The Mother Church, nevertheless sent their greetings to the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church. The approach of the Annual Meeting, they said, reminded them of the gratitude due Mary Baker Eddy "for her great gift, The Mother Church," which "goes hand in hand with the consciousness of our solemn obligation to live up to the standard which our Leader has given to those 'who have named the name of Christ with a higher meaning' (Christian Healing, p. 16)."
