Desire

DESIRES frequently prove to be the embryo of actions; therefore the quality of the desires we are nurturing is a vital factor in our daily experience. Christian Science enables us to develop such desires as are compatible with divine Principle and in this way mold our actions in their embryonic stages. This practice insures for us both divine direction and protection.

On page 9 of her Message to The Mother Church for 1900 Mrs. Eddy writes, "Strong desires bias human judgment and misguide action, else they uplift them." Misguided desires inevitably misguide human action, and divinely guided desires result in ever more divinely ordered human lives. Thus here and now we may know and respond only to the influence of the one Mind, God.

Every seed of right desire should be closely tended in order that it may yield a righteous harvest in our human experience. Not even the slightest spiritual aspiration or right intuition should be unheeded, resisted, or unappreciated, for it surely is an impartation of the Christ.
