Christian Science and Coueism are not similar, as your readers would probably infer from the mention of these subjects in the article entitled "Unhappiness Held Disease by New York Doctor," in the September 9 issue of your paper. Christian Science has its origin in the immortal divine Mind, which is God, good, and heals through the operation of this divine Mind. Coueism, on the other hand, is simply another name for hypnotism, and has its origin in mortal mind or the "carnal mind," as Paul puts it, which he declares is "enmity against God."
Christian Science teaches that the carnal or mortal mind is the cause of all the ills of the flesh, and that the divine Mind alone heals this so-called mind of all its sicknesses and sins. These ills of the flesh are caused by the wrong thinking of the "carnal mind," and they can be and are healed only by right thoughts from the divine Mind, which is God; for Christian Science demonstrates that right thoughts of God and man and the universe are real or true, and that wrong thoughts of the mortal or carnal mind are unreal and powerless. Christ Jesus said in referring to evil, "He is a liar, and the father of it." Christian Science healing is right or true thoughts of God and man and the universe displacing the wrong or erroneous thoughts of the so-called carnal or mortal mind.
