With a deep sense of gratitude for many blessings received...
With a deep sense of gratitude for many blessings received through Christian Science, I wish to give thanks to God for His loving-kindness. The first blessing I was aware of was the healing of a belief that it would be necessary for me to wear glasses all my life. I had worn them since early childhood, and the oculist's verdict was that I would have to continue to do so.
I started to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, just because it had been brought very clearly home to me that I had been judging unrighteously, in that I was holding an unfavorable opinion of Christian Science in spite of the fact that I had never read any authorized literature on the subject. When I had partly read the book one thought seemed very clear to me. It was that if man were really spiritual, then man's true sight must be spiritual perception. I was not yet ready, however, to agree that man is spiritual, but by the time I had finished reading the textbook and had reread the account of creation in the first chapter of Genesis, I could see that in reality man must be spiritual. I knew then that the glasses I was wearing could have nothing whatever to do with my true sight; but I did not leave them off at once for fear of what people would say to me. Not long afterward, however, I forgot my glasses one week-end and upon returning on Monday found them broken. I did not have them fixed, and have never needed them since.
Since that time Christian Science has been relied upon for the solving of whatever problems have arisen, and I am grateful for the many proofs we have had of its efficacy. Healings of colds, sore throat, grippe, inflammatory rheumatism, hemorrhoids, and acute eye trouble have been experienced in my family through the application of Christian Science. We are grateful for them; also for the loving help given by a practitioner when we have needed assistance.
